Right Angle Studio needs the right type of Project Manager

The team needed a balance between a project manager and a problem solver

Right Angle Studio’s goal is to understand and improve life in our cities.  They have started a number of successful businesses including Australia’s first independent online city guides The Thousands, Melbourne’s Rooftop Cinema and Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema & Bar.

As the business was growing, in March 2016 they needed a new project manager to join the team in Melbourne.  One of the challenges though was that the person needed to be not your typical PM.  In many cases, the right action day-to-day was to take action to resolve issues that would normally not fit within the scope of a project manager’s responsibilities.  The person also needed to fit the culture at Right Angle, which was a great mix of hard-working, but also without taking yourself too seriously.

After properly understanding the brief, Inject identified a candidate who we thought might suit, but came from a slightly different background.  This candidate was from an online training background, involved in the production of content.  Whilst not having some of the traditional project management training courses behind her, she had exactly the right approach Right Angle was looking for.  She was identified as being fantastic with customers, very organised and would make sure any problems were resolved properly.  For us, it was about finding that right human description that complimented their experience.

Now over a year on, Jade is doing incredibly well, with many successes behind her already!

“We went to Inject because we simply didn’t have time to hire the wrong person. We knew from a referral that they (Inject) were experts and we couldn’t deal with another recruitment agency sending us forms to fill out trying to fit our needs into their tick boxes.  The process was simple and effective because the team did their research on us and really listened to what we were after, that meant we could focus on other priorities with confidence the team could make decisions on our behalf. The end result was better than we had hoped for. Jade is doing extremely well, a key staff member who has helped us to grow the business and culturally a perfect match for our unique style. We highly recommend Inject.”

“From a candidate’s perspective, Inject was great to deal with. They really took the time to get to know me, asked some broad and searching questions as well as questions specific to the role and company. I felt like they really wanted this opportunity to be the right one for me as much as they wanted the candidate to be the right cultural fit for RAS. The role has proven to be both challenging and extremely rewarding. This was definitely the right move for me!”
